Name:
Stephanie “Steph” Marie Rogers

24
Place of Birth:
Washington, D.C.

Affiliation: JLA
Family:
Steve “Captain America” Rogers – Father
Zinda “Lady Blackhawk” Rogers (nee Blake) – Mother

Appearance:
Civilian Attire:
Stephanie’s civilian attire consists of jeans and button up tops over camisoles. She almost always wears high heels when not in uniform. And not surprisingly, her wardrobe consists of a lot of red, white, and blue- mainly because they go well with her complexion, and not because she’s practically America incarnate.
Personality:
Although Stephanie is normally shy, she can be just as stubborn and have as much of a temper as her mother does. She has a very black-and-white view of the world: either you’re a good guy, or you’re a bad guy. To her, there’s no gray area in the middle.
She is very innocent, and blushes very easily. She hates to see people get hurt, especially through the actions of someone else.
Stephanie is terrified of not being good enough. She doesn’t want to disappoint her parents- her father, especially. She tries her hardest to make sure that she can live up to the legacy that is Captain America- which is part of the reason that she chose her mother’s codename, at least for now. She doesn’t think that she has proven herself enough to take on that mantle, even though her father has given her the shield to use.
She cares too much what people think about her- she always thinks about her actions and what repercussions they may have on her and especially her family.

The Hero
Codename:
Lady Blackhawk II
Hero Attire:
Stephanie wears a copy of her mother’s Lady Blackhawk costume, but with a few differences. Stephanie doesn’t wear the hat, but instead wears a black mask that covers just her eyes and part of her head, leaving her blond hair to hang free. Her mask has the little wings on it that were characteristic of her father’s uniform. In addition, she has short sleeves on her costume instead of her mother’s long sleeves.
Powers:
Stephanie is the next generation’s super soldier. Her strength, agility, speed, reflexes, durability and healing are at peak human potential. In addition, lactic acid won't build up in her muscles, giving her peak human endurance. She can bench press close to eight hundred pounds, and can run a mile in close to two minutes. She can't get sick, and in addition, she can't become intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. She is highly resistant to hypnosis and toxins. For a toxin to affect her, it would have to be given quantities that would probably kill a normal human.
Skills:
~Ace pilot: As the successor to the Blackhawk legacy, it’s no surprise that she is an ace pilot. She has been flying for over ten years, and if it has wings and a steering mechanism she can fly it.
~Marksmanship: Steph is skilled in the use of firearms. She normally will aim for non-lethal spots when she’s shooting at someone unless she has no choice otherwise.
~Hand-to-hand Combat: Steph is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, trained by her father in his own style, which blended judo, western boxing, kickboxing, and gymnastics. She has since modified that a bit to her own style, relying much more heavily on kickboxing and gymnastics than Steve did.
Special Equipment:
~ The Shield- Originally her father's shield, she was given it right before she joined the JLA. She always carries it around with her.
~ Stephanie is also trained in the use of a variety of firearms- she always carries at least one gun on her at all times, usually more.
Weaknesses:
Stephanie’s major weakness is the fact that the super soldier serum doesn’t replenish itself in her body. She needs to get injections of it every week or so, otherwise she’ll revert to normal human abilities, not to mention she would soon get sick again.
Most Heroic Achievements:
Stopping the assassination of the vice president by taking the bullet herself.
History:
The two World War Two heroes didn’t have a glamorous meeting. It was roughly a year after the merger that they had met. Steve needed a pilot to take him on a mission, and Zinda had just started working at SHIELD and had quickly proven herself as the best. The mission didn’t quite go as planned, and Zinda quickly dropped her role of “just a pilot” and went in to save him. This sparked a few years of the two butting heads and then saving each other in some mission or another. But one day, Zinda proposed a bet: the next person who needed to get saved by the other would treat the person who saved them to dinner. These dinners then became a regular occurrence, which turned into a relationship, which turned into him popping the question after one of their dinners.
Stephanie was born a year and a half into their marriage. The super soldier serum didn’t pass on to her, though. In fact, it was almost the opposite- Stephanie was born over a month premature and was very sick. The doctors weren’t sure if she was even going to make it.
She was given a blood transfusion from her father- his blood type matched hers, while Zinda’s didn’t. To the shock of her doctors, she immediately got well, and was perfectly healthy for a few days until she slowly began getting sick again.
After that happened once again, the doctors realized that the only way to keep her healthy was the super soldier serum.
It took some of the smartest people in the world (from both worlds, even), but they finally managed to recreate the super soldier serum after over seven years of work. Meanwhile, though, Stephanie had been in and out of hospitals- mostly, in, though, with frequent test to determine how she was doing. The super soldier serum, although close to the original, wasn’t perfect. Compared to the original Super Soldier Serum, this wouldn’t replenish itself in her body. For her to remain healthy, she would need to keep taking injections of it for the rest of her life once every two weeks or so- almost like a diabetic needs insulin injections.
Stephanie began training at ten- with just her mother at first so she could learn how to fly, and then with her father a couple of years later. She joined the Young Titans at age fifteen, taking up her mother’s codename of Lady Blackhawk. She was the pilot in addition to whatever else was required of her.
Stephanie left the Young Titans at age twenty one, and had a brief stint as an unaffiliated hero and an even briefer stint as a SHIELD agent. She took part in only a few missions- one of them was stopping the assassination of the vice president by pushing him out of the way and getting shot to herself. Her final mission in SHIELD was with her Uncle Bucky, otherwise known as the new Captain America. She was just supposed to fly him in and out, but when the mission didn’t go according to plan she disobeyed the orders he had given her (said orders being “stay put, no matter what happens”) to go save him, much like her mother had done so many times before for one person or another. She grabbed the first weapon she could- which just happened to be the shield- and easily incapacitated not only the leader, but several of the terrorists with him.
She dragged her Uncle Bucky out and to safety, then flew them both home to the SHIELD base. Stephanie didn’t think anything of her mission until the next day when she was just going to talk to her father. Her Uncle Bucky was there, but he was just leaving- but before he did, he passed her the shield, saying something to the effect of that it was rightfully hers. Stephanie wasn’t sure exactly what it was- she was in shock, not having expected to receive the shield.
Stephanie was invited to join JLA, and she gladly accepted. She hasn’t taken on the “Captain America” mantle yet, despite being given the shield- she doesn’t think that she’s worthy. She hopes that one day, she can become this generations Captain America.
