I can't stay put, I'm sick of that helpless feeling. I will not sit around relying on...
We are now approaching Walmart shopping center.
Well here it is. Erin rubbed her eyes and it was an awkward thing. Standing up, she could feel the vibrations all around her and set her hand on the pole, taking a step down. She got in the short line of people awaiting to get off the bus, first the old lady in the wheel chair had to be helped out. It was a irritation but she didn't take much note to it. And even if the collection of bus people were some what bizarre, they still had nothing on her. She just wished that weird guy would stop staring at her the whole trip. Did he not think she could notice him? Oh and there was one other problem, Erin was completely blind.
Stepping off the ledge of the bus, she could feel the cool air across her skin and took in all the sound, smells and other extra senses to help over come her handicap. She used them to guild herself to the door and avoid walking into things. It was an interesting thing, even blind as a bat, she still had enough perception to guild her through the environment. Stuborn and not easily detoured, she left the care of her teammates to do some errands. Besides, it was a chance to explore this handicap, she had never been blind before and it was just another challenge to over come and learn from.
Standing at the entrance of the store she then sunk down her shoulders. Great, I might be able to walk around but how the heck am I going to be able to find these things? She was more helpless that she thought, but only now could she admit it. She would need the help of the people around her, it was like the reverse now. They would have to be her hero. Walking towards the help center, she sighed, I guess it can’t hurt to receive help from someone, I mean what else can I do?
"Hello, could someone possibly help me?" She called out to the person stocking merchandise in a cart to return to the floors. "Yes, how can I help you today? he said. She could tell by his voice that it was all an act, if he wasn't on the clock, would he have cared? "Yea, I need some help finding these things." Erin pulled out a paper with some items scribbled onto it.
"Well, iron pills would be in isle 12 and cereal.."
"Yea well, I'm kind of blind, so I can't just stroll down the way, you know."
This was certainly awkward, she was being lead around by a nerdy store clerk to do her shopping. She would be glad when she regained her sight, it wouldn't be more than a day. After all her body was better capable of pulling out the toxin than an average Joe here. Still she was mad at herself for being sprayed in the eyes by that art thief that she helped nabbed yesterday. True he was a rouge mutant and had some nifty tools for breaking into art galleries but he underestimated the Justice League of Avengers. Any witty or half mad villain who messed with them had another thing coming. And she'd be dammed if anyone would take her off guard like that again.
"Is this all you needed?" the clerk asked her while they were approaching the checkout lines. Yet something buzzed in her skull and sank into her body, distracting her from everything else. It was an familiar, overwhelming and terror triggering sensory perception.
"You know, I'm just going throw this out there, you're really hot, I was wondering if, well maybe, if you really wanted to, maybe we could go out sometime?" There was a moment of silents as Erin stared blankly and blindly at the wall towards the parking lot. Suddenly she grabbed the mans shirt and pulled him right up to her. The clerk gasped with wide eyes but still had an over optimistic feeling of getting lucky. She gripped his shirt with an unbreakable grasp as every cell in her body was awakened and her senses charged to the full.
"Get out of here! Get all these people the hell out of the store now! Get them out!" She growled at the clerk and pushed him away and backed up taking a stance as her face got pale. "Shit I can't see, I can't see anything!" She muttered. Suddenly there was a burst through the front of the building. People screamed and building debris rained down around her.
"Ooh, Fuck!"
