[/i][/center]The Person
Name: Carl Johnathan Kent, Kar-El
Age: 18
Place of Birth: Fortress of Solitude, Antarctica
Current Place of Residence: The Kent Apartment, Metropolis City
Affiliation: Not openly active in the superhero community.
Family: Clark Kent (Kal El, Father), Lois Lane-Kent (Mother), Martha Kent (Grandmother, Deceased), Johnathan Kent (Grandfather, Deceased), Conner Kent (Kon-El, Partial Clone of Superman, considered "Half Brother"), Kara (Zor-El, Auntie), Jor-El (Grandfather, Deceased), Lara Lor-Van (Grandmother, Deceased)
Height: 5'11’
Weight: 386Lbs (Due to denser body composition, although appears to look round the 190lbs mark)
Appearance:
Civilian Attire: Usually something casual, jeans or casual suits mostly. Like his father, he tries to keep his identity hidden through the use of glass, sunglasses, contacts and changing hairstyles, although since he's not openly active as a superhero he doesn't have to much of an identity to hide.
Personality:
Still a young man, Carl is slowly beginning to come to terms with the responsibility his powers and parentage place on him. For this reason he is never the first to throw himself headlong into a situation, always having to weigh up the impact his actions might have on those around him and his friends and family in general. This being said he is capable of acting with the same undaunted determination that his father has displayed time and time again in his long service, throwing himself into harms way when innocents around him are threatened.
Generally Carl is not comfortable being the center of attention and will happily find any excuse to shift the focus of any situation to other people or subjects, prefering to blend into the background and watch things unfold.

The Hero
Codename: If anyone asks he calls himself Kar-El
Hero Attire: Currently Kar-El does not possess any form of 'hero' attire, and sofar has refused the offer of a skintight outfit similar in design to his fathers. He doesn't believe that a suit is required to be heroic, but he does understand the need to be discreet and not expose himself to the world. Being an unknown face in the crowd has its advantages.
Powers:
Kryptonian Physiology: Kar-El's cellular structure is denser, more resilient and biologically more effective than human tissue. Without exposure to solar energy after a certain period of time, his strength reduces to the level of a human of his height and weight who engages in regular physical activity. He does possess several organs whose functions are not yet understood but are believed to be part of and perhaps even the source of his biomatrix force field and reclamation aura. Kar-El's body also stores energy actively within his bio-cellular matrix as an energy pattern that is linked to his body's electromagnetic field. This energy powers most of Kar-El's electromagnetic capabilities such as flight and heat vision.
Solar Energy Absorption: Technically, this is the main source of Carl's powers, however he does not process solar energy as quickly as Superman. As a result, he cannot push himself and his powers too far yet; if he does so, his body starts to eat itself for energy. A minor side effect of this is that he is warmer to the touch than the average human.
Superhuman Strength: In recent years, it has been shown that Kar-El has been developing natural superhuman strength. While the exact magnitude of his strength is unknown, it is shown that his strength is at least sufficient to lift far in excess of 100 tons. He has also shown the ability to become even stronger when "supercharged". Carl can easily bend metals and lift heavy objects above his head to a limit so far untested. Because his cells aren't fully Kryptonian it will take longer for him to reach the full level of strength normal Kryptonians such as Superman have, but his own strength although not on the same level as Superman yet, will match him as he reaches adulthood.
Invulnerability: Kar-El's body is nigh-invulnerable, able to withstand all but the most powerfull of impacts and extreme conditions without little discomfort. In addition, his immune system protects him from toxins and diseases. The reasons for his invulnerability revolve around his alien heritage, having a super-dense molecular structure and a supercharged bioelectric "aura" which acts as an invisible "force field" around his body within a few millimeters from his skin, and within his body as well, protecting his organs from impacts and assault. The proximity of this field to his skin means that loose clothes, for example, may be burned off of him, while cloth that is close to his body is protected by the "aura;" He can unconsciously extend this field to an undetermined extent to protect a greater area, allowing him to carry huge objects within the Earth's atmosphere and without gravity or inertia tearing them apart around his human-sized hands.
Superhuman Stamina: Ability to maintain continuous strenuous physical action for an undefined period. Theoretically, he has unlimited stamina, nourishment coming from the solar energy his cells process; he does however have the psychological need to eat and drink just as humans do every once in a while, though he receives the majority of his nourishment from the Sun. He does require sleep on occasion so he can dream. He can also hold his breath for an undefined duration.
Healing Factor: In the extreme event that he is harmed, either by an alien matching his own strength or other occurrence, he has the ability to heal almost instantaneously from any wound, assuming that the process is not impeded from some outside factor i.e. Kryptonite. This "healing factor" is supplemented by his stores of solar energy and also seems to be an unconscious ability, as Kar-El does not seem to have the ability to control when he heals and when he doesn't, much like a human has no control over their immune system.
Longevity: Due to the above effects it is uncertain whether or not Kar-El will age like a normal human or whether he will age at a much slower rate like his father.
Self-Sufficiency: Doesn't need to eat and sleep so long as he's under the effects of yellow sun radiation. His body stores the energy necessary to negate eating and sleeping for an indefinite period.
Flight: He possesses flight which allows him to maneuver precisely in any direction, as well as hover. The mechanism by which he flies is unknown, but some suggestions have been a field of energy allowing unconscious manipulation of gravity or diffraction/reflection of gravity due to unidentified Kryptonian organs affected by a yellow sun, or psionic manipulation of a personal anti-gravitational aura, which is also caused by his Kryptonian cells and a yellow sun.
Superhuman Speed: The ability to move at an incredible speed, like the Flash. This includes running, but flying is less strenuous and more versatile. Carl can move at supersonic speeds, while the upper limit has as yet remained undetermined, he is not as fast as Superman currently. He also possesses superhuman reflexes and the ability to move at incredible speeds by sheer force of will. He can also perform complex actions like assembling objects at hundreds of times faster than a normal human. As Carl ages he comes ever closer to achieving the speeds his father is capable of, approaching the speed of light.
Super Breath: The ability to create hurricane force winds by blowing, and to chill his breath in order to freeze a target.
Enhanced Senses: Carl possesses greatly enhanced senses.
Super Smell: His sense of smell is significantly enhanced to the point he can smell odours across the entire planet without any problem.
Telescopic Vision: The ability to "zoom in" his distance to see something at a great distance, without violating the laws of physics. The total telescopic ability is unprecedented, but limited to some extent.
X-Ray Vision: The ability to see through anything except lead. He can see things behind a wall as if the wall were not there, or can "peel back" layer after layer of matter in his mind. Kar-El is able to focus his vision past layers of matter, literally seeing "through" them -- possibly perceiving x-rays, cosmic rays or other forms of energy invisible to normal human vision which pass through Earth's atmosphere (and solid objects) after emission from stars. Since it is passive, this ability would not generate harmful radiation in the same manner as a focused projection of hard X-rays.
Microscopic Vision: The ability to see extremely small objects and images down to the atomic level (normal optical microscopes can only see objects down to the size of chromosomes).
Superhuman Hearing: The ability to hear any sound at any volume or pitch. The only Earth creature who can detect sounds at the frequency he can is a blue whale (0.01-200,000 Hz). He has shown enough control to block out ambient sounds to focus on a specific source/frequency.
Heat Vision: The ability to fire beams of intense heat at a target by looking at it with the conscious act of activating this power. These beams can be made invisible, allowing him to work undetected. The maximum temperature of his heat vision is said to be around that of a nuclear detonation. The area of effect can be consciously determined by Kar-El, down to the microscopic level.
Skills:
Trained Combatant - While he has very little actual experience in fighting others, Kar-El has been trained and drilled by his father in various styles of self defense and has in the past spent time training with other friends of his fathers, including on the odd occasion, Batman and Wonder Woman.
Languages - Kar-El can obviously speak, read and write English. He also has knowledge of the Kryptonian language thanks to teachings from his father and the computers in the Fortress of Solitude.
Photography - Carl is an avid photographer, having often accompanied his parents to interviews and from spending time in the Daily Planet Offices. He always has some form of camera to hand.
Archaeology - Kar-El has a growing interest in the subject and has attended lectures around the world on the subject, often traveling to the ruins in person to study them rather than relying on photographs.
High-Level Intellect- Due to his brain having to operate at higher speeds than the average human, Carl is able to absorb an enormous amount of information and recall most things he has read or seen in detail. Unfortunately due to his young age and his short attention span he has been unable to apply himself to anyone subject for to long, quickly becoming bored and moving on to something new. Idealy he would be suited to a general knowledge pub quiz rather than something subject specific like Mastermind...
Special Equipment: Non as yet
Weaknesses:
Alien Heritage: Due to his kryptonian half, Carl is partially vulnerable to kryptonite and red sun radiation. But the damage seems to be less effective on him than the full Kryptonians. One of his biggest weaknesses is that since he isn't completely kryptonian, his body can't process solar energy as fast as a pure kryptonian, making his body eat itself for energy if he pushes himself too hard.
Restraint: Kar-El has been taught all his life to restrain himself around others, hiding his true nature and as such has great difficulty in bringing his full power to bear against another living target in fear of what he might do to them. Because of this he will never use more force than is necessary to defeat an opponent or defend himself. While his father maintains that one day he will be able to control his power more effectively, at present his own mental blocks still require a great expense of will to overcome.
Kryptonite: While not as dangerous to him as it is to full blooded Kryptonians, the green varient of the element is still toxic to Kar-El after prolonged exposure, sapping his powers and rendering him all but mortal. Lethal doses administered to his blood stream would kill him just as they would any other Kryptonian.
Lead: He cannot see through lead with his vision powers.
Magic: Kar-El's biomatrix is his most powerful asset, but the strength of this field is also its greatest weakness. It's permeability to certain wavelengths makes him vulnerable to certain radiations, particularly magical energies whose chaotic electromagnetic or extra dimensional signatures disrupt this force field. His vulnerability to magic varies on the special effects of the magic. No magic seems to be able to directly destroy him unless it comes from a semi-divine or divine source. He can be injured and worn down by magical entities. Magic can have powerful and unpredictable effects on him.
Red Stars: Due to the nature of his alien heritage any time spent in the vicinity of a red star would slowly depower the young man untill he was no stronger than a human of his height and weight who engaged in daily exercise.
Age: Kar-El is still growing, and as such has not yet reached the full potential of his inherent powers. Given time he has the potential to perhaps equal his father in power. He is also only 18 years old.
Most Heroic Achievements: Held a collapsing subway tunnel up long enough for the passengers in the train he was traveling on to be evacuated safely.
History:
Born Carl Johnathan Kent in memory of Clarks adoptive father, the young Kar-El grew quickly, hidden away from prying eyes, first for his birth in the Fortress of solitude where every aspect of his embryonic development was monitored, to his first years with his grandmother on the Kent farm in Kanses. Nobody paid much heed to the boy in those first few years when he would play out in the driveway with his toys.
The years passed and the stumbling toddler became a young boy, spending his time between Metropolis and Smallville always under the watchfull eyes of either his parents or his grandmother, watching for the day when they knew the first signs of his powers would emerge. It was while both parents where on assignment that the first of his budding powers made an appearance. Wishing to get himself a biscuit from the cupboard that had all be child proofed, he simple tore the door off when he couldn't understand how it would work. When granny found him was sat in a pile of crumbs, a happy grin on his face.
After that his powers began to emerge much more rapidly forcing his father to spend more and more time with him to help the boy understand what was going on and what he was. They practiced daily and listened to the lessons Kal-El had listened to all those years ago in the Antartic Fortress, his Grandfather teaching him along side his own father. With every passing month his powers grew stronger. Lifting hale bales became lifting the tractor, running after the dog became playing catch with himself and long jumps through the air became gravity defying flights. All this time he was constantly taught to hide himself from other by his father, to never use his powers for his own gain or in plain sight of others, lest they discover his, and his familes secret.
Home schooled for the first few years, it was only after Clark and Lois were certain he could control his emerging powers that they enrolled their son in the school system in Metropolis. While his father fought the villians of the new world and his mother reported on it, he studied and trained, developing himself both mentally and physically so that one day he might to be able to help the world like his father had. With Highschool now behind him, Kar-El is beginning to follow in his fathers footsteps...if somewhat reluctantly...

"Come on...come on...gotcha..."
Carl grinned to himself as he checked the screen on his camera, pleased with the photo of the nascar that had rushed past, just the right amount of blur at the edges to give an indication of its speed. The roar of the engines and the crowd was intoxicating and he wanted to cheer and shout with them as the drivers pushed their machines to the very limit trying to outdo one another and win the race. He had to remind himself he was here to take photos...no photos ment no money and no money ment...well spending more time living at home, something that he really didn't want to do anymore.
His camera flashed again and again as he stood by the barricades, close enough to feel the rush of air as the cars sped past, lap after lap. He wondered for a moment what it would feel like to sit behind the wheel of one of those things and feel what those drivers felt, riskying their lives to succeed. He envied them sometimes because he knew he would never feel that same rush, never have that surge of fear from pushing beyound human limits...he wasn't human so how could he?
There was a screech and a bang that brought him out of his daydream and his attention back to the track in time to see the lead cars front tire explode in a mess of rubber, sending it skidding into a spin as the driver fought to maintain control. The car spun and rolled tumbling side over side, flipping up towards the barrier and the crowds of fans behind the thin mesh fence.
Carl's mouth was open as he watched the car slam into the fence, watching as the mesh groaned but held, shunting the car back onto the track where it rolled a few more times and came to a stop, its entire chassis wrecked. His eyes scanned it, peeling back the layers to check inside. He let out the breath he had been holding as he saw the roll cage was intact and that the driver was only dazed by his ordeal.
It was only as he watched the race marshalls getting everything under control that he noticed his hands were shaking and his pulse was racing...and his feet were several inchs above the concrete...
