Pete was really no good with girls. Growing up he had more important things to worry about than learning how to deal with women; like being poor and angsty. Every now and then he'd start talking with a girl but things rarely ever worked out for more than a few weeks. At the end of the day Pete kind of just lost interest in trying to date... until recently, that is.
Ever since joining the Titans Pete has had a huge crush on Anreal Mckenzie, daughter of Namor the Sub-Mariner and Atlantean Princess. He's been very quiet about it because she is obviously way out of his leauge. She's a princess for Christ sake! However, Pete was convinced to do something about it after bringing it up to Sam. What's the worst that she could do, say no?
Pete's sudden burst of bravery faded soon after making his way up the stairs. What was he thinking? This was going to end horribly. There was like a five percent chance she says yes out of pity. After going up the last step Pete found himself in a hallway, the sliding door that lead into Anreal's room was nearby. Pete had on a pair of dark jeans and a faded navy and blue "Gotham Rouges Football" t-shirt. A white trucker cap was placed backwards on his head. Pete slowly started to walk down the hallway as all the horrible outcomes to this situation started rushing through his head.
After turning back and convincing himself otherwise multiple times, Pete found himself at Anreal's door. He cleared his throat and knocked on the door. Not knowing what to do with his hands, Pete leaned up against the doorway and crossed his arms. He recited what he was going to ask in his head one last time before she opened the door.
"Oh... well hey Anreal! What brings you here? ... well I mean it's your room but... So what's up?" Pete sputtered. Totally nailed it.

Sitting her room and working on painting her nails- because that was the kind of thing Anne had told her was a normal human girl thing to do was the princess of Atlantis Anreal Mckenzie. She was every bit the same naive girl that had joined the Titans, and still knew very little of the surface world- except that it was riddled with villains that must be put down for the safety of others.
Tonight though was not her night to patrol so instead she had sea foam green nail polish and was working on painting her toes, that was when the door slid open. "Hey Pete." She smiled as her friend walked in He stammered about what brought her to her room, to that she gave him a quizzical look and then smiled and giggled. "Nothing much is up... just um... doing my nails, but it's not really turning out right..." She couldn't quite seem to let them dry fully before they messed up.

As she spoke Pete couldn't help but stare at her. In Pete's eyes she was pretty hot so it was nice being this close to her. Pete nodded at her feet, addressing her nails. He couldn't really think of what to say so for a moment he just tried to look like he was thinking and not just staring. Remembering why he was there, Pete cleared his throat.
"So, uh, Anreal. I was wondering if you wanted to see a movie or something? It'd be fun." Pete said. His confidence was coming back somewhat. Maybe she wouldn't say no. "I could take you out in the T-Car. Sammy said I could borrow it." Pete offered with a smile. Pete had no car. He mostly had to get around via public transportation or the pathetic moped his employer loans him to deliver pizza with.

When Pete finally gathered his thoughts together and spoke Anreal looked up from her toenail polish. "A movie?" She said a big smile on her face. "Yeah I love movies! What're we gonna go see?" She asked closing up the small bottle and facing Pete fully.
Her pointed ears perked up as if she was listening all the more intently. She very much wanted to have a good time, she loved going out into San Francisco. "Are the others coming too?"

Pete's face lit up when she said yes. He looked down slightly to hide his joy. He didn't want overly appear to happy, that might come off as desperate. Pete shuffled his feet when she asked if the others were going. His heart sank. She thought he was just asking her to hang out as friends. Then Pete remembered her Atlantean upbringing made her a little... out of touch with the ways of the surface world. Maybe she truly didn't understand what he was asking her.
"Uuuuh, no? I meant you know... like a date? I mean only if you wanted of course!" Pete explained.

The Atlantean's face fell for a moment when he began his sentence, was he backing out of the movie after he'd just asked? Then he said the three magic words 'like a date'. Anreal's face brightened up her lips formed a smile that truly beamed. "A... a date?" She blinked. "I've never been on a date..." She stood up now, not bothering to worry about her polish being dry. "I'd love to go on a date with you." Anreal beamed very brightly.
She wasn't sure really how a date was supposed to work, but she really really wanted to go on one.
