Civilian Attire: John works as a bodyguard, and can typically be found wearing a charcoal gray suit and tie. He takes on various clientel through Steelworks.
Personality:
Father's wit: John is actually very smart and has adapted some of his father's unused work from S.T.A.R. Labs & creative ideas with those of his own towards the creation of his own hammer. Just like with his father's powers, John is only limited in his capabilites by his own mind. Therefore he can often be seen working on a crossword puzzle or word scramble.
Mother's Charm: John is similar to his mother in spunk and "smart-assery" and she often gets on his case about not taking on the Steel persona full time with a team. It's not that he doesn't like people or enjoy their company, he just is a little rough around the edges sometimes. So while to some he may come off completely "street" or "gangster", he is also capable of rubbing shoulders with the likes of elder heroes and dignitaries.
Uncle's Will: Often fighting through personal issues, mostly of his own doing, he often refuses to be helped and this is partly why he does not mesh well with others nor has joined a team. He often gets on his Uncle John's case for not having been more of an example or doing more as Steel. Yet he does not want to accept the mantle completely either. Some of this may be due to his close relationship with his mother, so much so the family refers to Little John as his "Mother's Twin" because that same rebellious spark is within him.
Born and raised more on the street side than at home John comes off as a smart mouth often. He has also dealt with a lot of grief due to his working for and being named after his Uncle.

The Hero
Codename: Steel
Hero Attire:
Powers:
Molecular density shifting: John is capable of increasing the density of his skin making himself impervious to standard ammunition rounds and physical contact with non-powered heroes. This can last for 30mins to 1.5 hours at peak. Armor piercing rounds impact his ability to maintain it.
Super Strength: In human form, John is at least capable of lifting 80-85 tons. As Steel or in his power suit the max weight he can carry is 100 tons.
Steel skin: Unlike his uncle John, JJ, (as he is most commonly called in his family) can harden his skin at will to a metallic state to where the only those with super/ extraterrestrial powers (Kryptonians/ Martians/ etc...) or most stronger substances(carbonadium, vibranium, secondary impure and pure adamantium, and uru metal) can penetrate it.
Skills:
Heightened mental aptitude: John, while he did receive an Associates Degree in Web Design, has a slightly higher technical aptitude which he credits to having spent time with his father as a youngster. While he does not have the genius level intellect of his father or uncle, he does have more experience and show promise in the field of information technology.
Melee Mastery: Having spent most of his teen years on the streets protecting younger kids, John learned how to street brawl. Having spent most summers with his uncle John, JJ also learned mixed martial arts (boxing, tkd, and San Shou ) as part of a deal he made with his uncle. JJ, as he now lives with his uncle, is required to practice hammer skills.
Special Equipment:
Kinetic Hammer: Telescopic handle with onboard computer governing independent movement after being thrown. It is capable of greater impact the further it is thrown. The hammer has been passed down and modified by Virgil to activate using JJ's fingerprints and voice. The only others capable of wielding it are the original Steel and Natasha.
Power plates: The chest plate that Steel wears that includes pauldrons all connect magnetically. The back of Power plates now include jets that allow flight and gives the appearance of a cape when operated at full blast. This is the latest piece in Steel's arsenal as opposed to a full suit of armor.
Weaknesses: (Weaknesses related to powers, personality, fears etc etc)
EMP's are capable of deactivating plates and hammer.
JJ is a big momma's boy. If anything were to happen to her, he likely would not handle it well. He's still learning to separate his emotions while working, so something of that nature would impact his judgement calls and his emotional state.
As mentioned before: stronger metals like carbonadium, vibranium, secondary impure and pure adamantium, and uru metal can hurt him severely if in metallic state and armor piercing rounds.
He typically does not use his powers until in a heightened state of emergency. Therefore he could easily be taken out with if targeted with a sniper rifle using armor piercing rounds.
Most Heroic Achievements: Working with his dad as Static to stop a robbery at STAR Labs.
History:
Virgil Hawkins and Natasha Irons both having served or aided the JLA met and there were instant "sparks" according to Virgil. The pair did have some difficulties at first, with Static being a member of the Titans for a while before moving up the ladder into the JLA. The two could often be found working together within Natasha's uncle John Iron's shop Steelworks.
Virgil, having acquired a full time position with STAR labs through his internship, eventually saved up enough cash.... and courage to ask Natasha to marry him. Natasha, being known on and off again as Steel grew to love the shocks being sent to her system... and his "electrifying" kisses. It was a "yes" from her, after Virgil's sister Sharon and her cracked on how long it took him to finally ask. The two soon found themselves, a 2 years after the merge of Dakota's time stream to the current one, expecting a baby boy.
John Henry Irons-Hawkins was born in Sadler Memorial Hospital to Virgil Hawkins (Static) and Natasha Irons-Hawkins (Vaporlock/Steel IV). Being the son of these young heroes and former Titans had its advantages, namely being able to rub shoulders and grow up in sight of the greatest super powered beings, aliens, and highly skilled people.
After spending most of his youth in Sadler, John, along with his mother moved to be closer to STAR labs where Virgil works. When he turned 15 JJ, as he now preferred to be called, was visiting his dad after school. It was on this day that Hotstreak, Toyman, and Ebon attacked the labs hoping to lure Virgil out. Instead, they found themselves lured further and further into the labs. It was while fighting Toyman's puppets that JJ noticed his super strength, as he picked up a die cast fully assembled engine display. After Virgil and his son defeated the villains, JJ's parents made plans for him to live with his uncle, the man he was named after John Henry Irons, aka Steel.
John taught JJ as much as he could and, over the next 9 years, learned just as much because JJ in some ways reminded John of his niece. He helped JJ through his next mete-gene mutation of gaining steel- like skin, similar to what he had after enduring the Everyman Project with JJ's mom. This manifestation did not yield or dissipate though over time as his and Natasha's had, so John has taught JJ how to work with it and turn it on and off.
At age 25 JJ began profiting from his heroic deeds by becoming a bodyguard. His first and most faithful client, has been his uncle. In return, John made a deal with JJ, he would earn the privilege to become the next bearer of The "K" Hammer...as Steel. It has been four years since that deal and JJ is still learning and earning his keep in the hero community. His father and uncle have taken the time and energy to build him real time simulators and hotlinked to sensai and dojo leaders from various locations for video lessons. He is stepping out from the mantle of the kid of Static and Vaporlock to become his own hero, to forge his own destiny, and hammer out his own path.
RP Sample:
The building was crumbling quick and JJ knew he wouldn't have enough time to get his clients out, let alone himself. No time to call the Hammer...he thought, Looks like I'm going to have to shield us out. Alright you two, gather under me! He pulled the two young meta-tweens under his arms and felt the chill that was the precursor to his skin hardening... His future mark, his code name: Steel.
The tweens were not too heavy for him as his metallic skin, hardened by his secondary metamorphosis, allowed him greater strength. When it seemed the coast was clear he shook off the debris from his shoulders. "THAT WAS AWESOME DUDE!" yelled the bizarrely male pyrokinetic meta-baby springing from under JJ's arms. "Totally SUPER..." swooned the younger girl looking up at him, clinging to his tattered charcoal blazer.
