Morphia was having the new years from hell. After spending Christmas with Claude she'd flown to Helsinki to attend to Blood Raine Business, and spend New Years, on New Years Eve she'd attempted to drink her way into a blithering New Years Spirit, but had found her self sick, stomach flu from the look of it. It was not a pretty sight, Gil even felt bad for her- at least after he'd made sure she'd given him his new years kiss- she actually decided not to kid her self, it was a New Years make out session, which he didn't get to finish because he was already so intoxicated by the time he was touching her skin he passed out before anything exciting could even get started.
After Helsinki she flew to LA to visit Blood Raines US West Coast HQ, she went to a doctor and didn't like her diagnosis. After attending to business she went to New York, saw a doctor for a second opinion. Decided to try her luck at home, and still came out with the same god damned diagnosis.
Morphia was pregnant.
After realizing that she was actually pregnant, she'd made an appointment at an abortion clinic. She even paid for the treatment, but when she was being ushered back to the procedure room she had a horrifying thought. She would be thirty this year, and if this child actually survived gestation, it might be her last chance to ever have a child. Needless to say she left with out a refund.
Now there was only one thing left to do. Something she couldn't even think of having to do, but she couldn't avoid. She had to tell the father.
Sitting in Claude Lebeau's office in the Hell Fire Club Morphia itched for a cigarette, but since she'd decided to quit while pregnant (the idea still made her head swim) she refused to reach for the long cylinders in the crystal box before her on the desk. It wouldn't belong before Claude returned, but it was also mid day so they'd have the privacy necessary to have this little chat with out interruptions from any patrons- or other members of the hierarchy.

Claude LeBeau had been having fun of an entirely different sort. Business resumed after Christmas. Business being both that of what Claude LeBeau did, running a security company that was turning into more of a private military contractor and business that Gambit The Terminator did. Although appearances of the Terminator had been on the decline since his Hellfire affiliation. He had decided he wasn't all that fond of that. Hellfire work was much more profitable but he had never been overtly interested in profits. It was the sense of achievement he craved, the thrill of the hunt and out maneuvering his opponents.
Currently within the backarea of the club, the ever so private Inner Sanctum of the Inner Circle Claude made his way into his office. Morphia was waiting. She didn't tend to wait for people anymore so this was out of the norm, unless she needed something. Even Morphia couldn't demand from the King but a good Queen didn't need to demand. Morphia had other weapons then force of personality.
"To what do I owe the pleasure mon ami?" with quick steps the Cajun King crossed the wide expanse of his office until he was behind his desk and sitting comfortably in the leather seat. His black and red eye's were analyzing the Queen, she was out of her comfort zone. Claude sat back further in his seat, resting into it fully and bringing one leg up so that his ankle was resting on the knee of the other, an elbow resting on the armrest of his chair and an arm pointing upwards, its handing rolling & flicking a poker chip between his fingers at a pace he now considered casual but was ultimately impossible to standard humans.

Watching him flip his poker chip nonchalantly Morphia felt sick- she wasn't sure if it was the 'morning sickness' or dread. "Well I have news for you..." She said crossing her arms, she wasn't sure if she was pale or not but she felt flushed. "And I'm afraid you're not going to like it." Unless I seriously misjudged you. She added mentally.
She wasn't sure how to tell him, or what his reaction would be. She didn't thinks sugar coating it would be his style, they were both very blunt people. But blatantly telling him she was knocked up might be more than shock to his system.
"I know we haven't spoken since Christmas Day, and we've both been busy... but I ..." She stopped really not sure hot to tell him. Morphia un crossed her arms, and legs, and then recrossed her legs in the opposite position. "I... I've had a really rough new years, a lot of work, and I've had a really big decision to make. One that can affect... a lot between... us." It was odd for her to be at a loss for words, but now she was completely lost with out a map. When she and Suichiro had found out she was pregnant before they'd been together, they'd found out at the same time. This was totally different. She was older, and more jaded, and the father was just as screwed up as she was.
"And I don't know how to tell you this any other way than to just say it." She said placing her face in her hand, taking a deep breath, her jaw setting in a hard defined line. "I'm pregnant."

"So what?" His response came back incredibly quick. He had barely given her the chance to finish telling him what she was saying when he verbally pounced. The only evidence that he was in anyway phased was how his poker chip skipped a finger in its little flick and roll process before with a movement of his hand it was gone. He liked his little street magic tricks.
So Morphia was pregnant. That brought about a number of problems, mainly she'd be getting attached and have reduced time. Also it was likely his, but when it came to women in the Hellfire Club you might as well throw them into a bush of needles and ask which one stung first.

Morphia glared for a moment. Her nervousness suddenly faded into a dull rage. He was taking this lightly, did he even grasp at the weight of what was happening. "Well for starters, it's yours." She found her voice again. "If you want a paternity test, I'd love to give you one. But your the last man I've been with in about three months, so, either it's yours or I'm the blessed mother." Which they both knew she was far from.
The Asian woman had noted the faltering of his poker chip, that gave her some satisfaction that he'd even given her the slightest of reaction. Though she was hoping he'd get it with out her having to spell the damn thing out for him.

"Then get rid of it." His words were quick and clinical. He was surprised she already hadn't. It didn't seem like her. He couldn't imagine Morphia trading in her blacks and taking up suburban life to become a soccer Mom but whatever would happen with a kid involved could only slow or stop progress.
Claude had no interest in being a father to Morphia's child. Nor would he. As far as he was concerned it took two people to bring a kid into the world but only one to keep it out.

Morphia's jaw tightened. "I already tried that." She swallowed. "I couldn't do it." She looked away from him now. She'd never terminated a pregnancy before, she'd always been very careful about not becoming pregnant. This time she wasn't even sure what happened, perhaps they'd been caught up in the moment and just forgotten. What ever the case the deed had been done, and on top of that her mind had been made up.
"I was in the clinic and realized something." She said still not looking in his direction. "This could be the last chance I have to have a child." It was true, life wasn't slowing down any time soon for Morphia, and she didn't even know any one that she wanted to marry- or even be exclusive with, so a family wasn't even in the foreseeable future. At least not until now.

"Try again." The Cajun King was running out of patience. "This little babe don't even exist yet and its making you weak already." His black and red eyes focused into a glare. "You goin' to be a Moma to dis little one? What happens when the little one is sick and needs its moma to take care of it. You going to sit at home bouncing it in your arms? Drop everything for a little babe or drop it off on some nanny? We got no use for you with new loyalties and I know damn well your drunken Scotsman won't care none for it neither. You hearin' me mon petite? Assuming your body don't kill it. Your life don't allow it and neither does mine, and I don't care of you gone and got knocked up."
If he was as smoking man he'd have had a cigarette now, he had a certain love for cigars at a certain time and place but now wasn't for that. Rising from his seat Claude made his way to his drinks cabinet. That he could have now.

"Don't you ever say anything about my mutation killing my child." The words escaped her throat before she even had a chance to stifle them. Her voice was strong but she wasn't shouting... yet. "You have no right to tell me about something you have no idea about."
Morphia's jaw tightened again, she was used to be yelled at. Screamed at, even hit when things didn't go the way of what ever the man who was practically in charge of her liked. She shifted in her seat, almost rising to do as he asked as she remembered the last time she'd had this conversation so many years ago, but her moment of weakness passed as soon as it came and she remained where she was, fingers gripping tightly on her arms, threatening to draw blood if they had been on bare skin.

"What makes you think I don't know anything about it?" Morphia was losing her composure, but Claude was not. "I know more about you then you do. I've background checked everyone who's walked through the doors to this place anytime in the last ten years. There's not a thing I don't have on file." Information was half of his job. Knowledge was a weapon he wielded with great proficiency.
"So yes, Elena. I know all about it. This is throwing you off your game already. So deal with it." Morphia didn't have the bodycount that Claude had but she had a bodycount, now all she had to do was make a small addition to it.

Before she even realized what she'd done Morphia had drawn back and threw her hand in a hard slap against his face. He was meta human, he could have stopped it if he wanted, but it made her feel better to try. When her hand landed, the sting was probably stronger to her than it was to him, she'd have been surprised if he even felt it, but she didn't let it show on her face that she was in any pain. "You are a fucking bastard, Claude." She said quietly, her yellow eyes glaring at him. "You have no god damned right to tell me what to do with my body. I don't want you to be a father to this child, but I thought you should know god damn it."
Morphia had always been a staunch pro-choice advocate, it was part of her subculture and it kept her from sending to many women on maternity leave or from having to fight legal battles on paternity cases and child support settlements. But some how when it came down to her body versus other people she felt like she had more of a right to choose to keep the baby than anything else.

Morphia slapped Claude across the face. It didn't phase him....in fact the look in her eyes was all the tell tale evidence he needed to know she had only managed to hurt herself but the action itself got across the intended meaning to him. "I kill people for money. What did you expect mon petite?" Well of course he was a bastard. Nobody got to where he got without being a bastard. Even Tony Stark admitted he had no idea where people got the idea he was a good person.
"Now unless there be anything else. You can leave." This would be a most interesting period in the Inner Circle. There was no way Morphia could protect herself with a baby on the way. She was fine now, but in a few months. She'd need him more then ever. Claude just had to wonder how valuable she was to him. She was certainly very high on the list of things he had decided were an improvement to his life now that he was "Hellfire."

Standing straight Morphia clenched her fist tighter, her eyes burning with resolve, and her full lips set in a defined line. "I've always known you were a bastard Claude. I just didn't know how fucked up you really were." She sighed, more to expel energy than to prove she was upset.
"Like I said before, this is my choice. You don't have to be a father to this child if you can't handle it. But I'm going to need protection, as you so love to try and hold over my head you know a lot of what I'm dealing with and if the axe falls on any of these deals I might find my self in danger. If that happens, I'll need your protection now more than ever." If she hadn't decided to try her hand at mother hood she would have lit a cigarette about this time. "Remember LeBeau, I pay you good money to watch my back, so don't loose sight of that." She walked towards the door and stood waiting for a moment for his answer. If he didn't have anything else to say she would return to her office and go over the work left from over the new years from the HFC.

"Well that's just business mon ami." The Assassin maintained his calm demeanour, watching the already less stable Morphia intently. "I've neva failed a contract and I ain't about too." So long as she had the contract she was safe, even if the contract was just a formality to legitimize their deal. In so much that someone could legitimize a technically not legal contract.
She was about to leave, to do only she knew what. But he had his own thoughts moving through his head, planning and forward planning for a variety of possibilities to how this would all turn out. Next few months would be interesting. Then again his life was a lot of things, boring was not one of them.
