"All you can eat buffet? Midgard has set a challenge for me. I shall send word to the Warrior's three and we shall see if Midgard yet can challenge the Gods." Fandral and Hogun might not be as amused by Octavius and Volstagg would leave any hall bear that tempted them with "all you can eat," and whatever damage Octavius could do to such a place Volstagg could do ten times over.
"I shall travel back soon, I have not seen my home in too long. My heart is weary for it. But I do not think I shall stay long." Of course he said that now, but when he was back home among familiar faces and they wishes to hear about his battle against Alti and he would tell them with how he took up the hammer it might be a different story, or when he rode out to Themyscira and found himself back in the most serene place in all of creation as far as he was concerned. But neither Asgard nor Themyscira had Vincent.

Vincent smiled as he spoke most excitedly about the buffet, she was certain they'd close their doors to them if she showed up with four hungry Asgardians, there wasn't enough food in New York to satiate their appetites.
Then he followed her direction to the conversation of home. He was in her home all the time, she knew all of his familiar faces, all of her friends and colleagues were there- at least 9 to 5 they were, even the JLA rested on her home branch. Vincent suddenly realized how lucky she was, and how lonely it must be for some one like Octavius to have to have given up everything to be in the service of other people.
The wine came as they were talking, and the waiter then poured them two glasses. Vincent took hers up and took a ceremonious first drink, then a full sip. "I couldn't imagine being away from home for as long as you have, and you've not visited once. I'm not sure I could be that brave. I think I've turned into quite the home body."

"I was not given the choice to visit, I was exiled after all." He would have returned if he could but mortals were not meant to walk the Realms of the Gods. Those were places for the Gods, with their marvels to enjoy and their threats to deal with. Although Octavius was aware there were those whom had traveled to Asgard before, Vincent's own father being one but the situation was far from the norm. Ragnorak itself! Oh what Octavius would have given to fought on those fields of battle.
Octavius drank deep of the wine when it arrived, no longer did it vex him at first as it did when he was a mortal. He did not need to take careful 'sips' but could drink deep and full as one was meant to enjoy wine!

"But even before that, it was nearly a year." She leaned in closer to him. "But I'm going to to miss you when you do decided to go back." She kissed the side of his jaw gently, her hand falling to his loose curls of dark hair.
She wondered why she always felt so stiff on first dates. Even when she knew some one as well as she knew Octavius, they'd literally known each other since they were children. Well she was 13 and he had been 15, but still it had been a first introduction well over ten years before. Vinent wanted nothing more to feel comfortable around him in any setting, but they were so different. But that was what they said, opposites attracted.

"I shall not leave long, a handful of days to tell tales and see my home. I shall be back shortly." she kissed the side of his jaw and he nuzzled into her neck before he placed a kiss on her cheek. Where Vincent was cautious and stiff Octavius was confident. They had fought beside each other, fought against each other and they had made love. He knew all he needed to know that could be learned in the time they knew each other.
He wrapped an arm around her waist and held her close, resting his forehead against hers he let everything her quiet for a moment and just enjoyed her presence, the scent of her perfume burying the tiniest hint of oil, the beating of her heart and the warmth of her breath. Octavius Thorson was very happy.

Vincent smiled as they sat together, heads resting against one another, each one sensing the other through heightened super natural perception. She fully aware of how organic and real he was amidst a sea of electrical impulses and information washing over her constantly. He was warm and real and she couldn't help but hold him tighter at the notion.
"I love you." She said finally, not sure how much she'd said it in the past few days but she meant it more and more every time. When Vincent had divorced she promised her self that she'd not let any one hurt her again, Octavius had done just that. He'd nearly killed her, and betrayed her trust as a friend. Though from that Rift they grew something much deeper, and a new trust formed that went father than their previous friendship could carry them.

"And I you." It probably didn't need to be said but it was nice that it was said. The two just enjoyed each other's presence, when he heard the sound of people coming and the scent of food he knew there dishes had arrived, or at least some. It was not customary for a pair of people to order such quantities he understood, he did not expect it all at the same time.
Octavius gave a smile towards the waitress and others as they arrived with the food and placed it down, a fork in one hand and a knife in the other. There would be no holding back, Octavius would consume it all!

Vincent loved hearing him confirm their feelings. She loved hearing him say that he loved her, she just loved him. When he moved away Vincent noticed the large number of people coming, Octavius was able to hear them far before she was but that didn't mean she wans't able to clear our space for the large quantities of food that would be coming.
With the troop of waters as a heavy set man with a receding hair line in a double breasted Chef's smock. "I just had to see it. Who has come in and cleared me out of nearly everything in the kitchen." He said clapping his hands. "My name is Vince Camuto and I'm the Chef here." He offered his hand to Vincent and he lightly shook hers before offering a firmer grip to Octavius. "Whose the Lucky couple, and what's the wondrous occasion?"
Vincent sipped her wine and smiled at the Chef, waiting for Octavius to take the lead. He would enjoy lively banter she was sure.

"I am Octavius Thorson and my lady friend is Vincent Stark." replied the Asgardian as he took the offered hand and shook with what he considered an extremely feather grip. In a world of cardboard he had to be careful. People didn't really understand how his physical strength worked, but suffice to say the world was cardboard to him and that was a compliment to its durability.
"This is simply a romantic evening." One that would be considerably more romantic if they were left alone but Vincent was smiling so Octavius would entertain the Chef's ego slightly longer. They all wanted to know how noteworthy a person their craft brought in.

"Octavius- and Ms. Stark, aren't you two Avengers?" Asked the Chef after shaking Octavius' hand. "Well this is a treat! And who would have thought you two- a thing." He laughed heartily. "Well, that's lovely, just lovely, well We'll let you kids enjoy your evening out." Vince pat Octavius on the shoulder. "But as a big thank you for your patronage tonight I'm going to send my my specialty desert, compliments of the chef." He chuckled before making an over exaggerated motion of shooing the wait staff.
When they'd all gone Vincent leaned over and kissed Octavius' jaw once more. "I thought they'd never leave." She said with an almost giggle as she pulled away. "Perhaps next time we'll go some place the Chef doesn't care about who orders what?" She teased him reaching down and squeezing his thigh just above the knee.

"Aye, but desert sounds good." Nothing washed down wine better then desert. Vincent placed a hand on his knee but Octavius didn't respond in any major way, instead he was watching her with interested eyes. His fork took up a sliver and meat and some pasta but he offered it to her instead of eating it himself. The opposite arm stretch around so his hand was resting on her far shoulder.
It was a fine place she had found, secluded yet with much to offer. They could be alone but benefit from the presence of staff if they needed and of course the food. The Chef had a ego he liked stroked but he was an artist.

Vincent opened her mouth and allowed Octavius to feed her. The savory meat and the fresh spices made for an excellent blend the seemed to melt on the tongue. "That's wonderful." She said with a content sigh. "You've made a great choice ordering- all of the menu." she laughed her hand raising from his leg to take her napkin and wipe her mouth clean.
They were having a great time, and she almost wanted to stay in this moment forever, the breeze across the garden was cool, but they were huddled close together and Octavius let off more body heat than other men did. They were close and happy, and the food was to die for.
