Ayame hummed to herself, finally feeling calm. The JLA Space Station was hard for her. Even though it was large, it was still too small for the godling girl. She felt the walls closing in on her, the noises and breaths made by others, even if they were a distance away from her room. Plus, the airvents felt off. Too much false oxygen pumping through them. She understood the need for it, but that didn't make her feel any better. The one thing she liked was the stars. She'd always liked watching them back home, in Kyoto, with her father. Her father loved the stars too. He often spoke as if he controlled them, as if they were his and his alone. Being in space made her feel closer to him, in an odd way. Which was nice, as in the almost 2 years she'd been part of JLA, she hadn't gotten any leads. But right now, standing on the edge of a 15 story building, teetering between the relative safety of the roof top and the open expanse of empty space in front of her, she felt more comfortable than she had in weeks. The way the wind whipped around her, pulling her hair like a naughty school boy. The chill in the air that she didn't really feel. The lightly polluted taste that she'd gotten used too. It felt safe. With a girlish giggle, fitted more for a school girl than a super hero, she threw herself off the roof, arms spread wide, body horizontal, a smile on her face, eyes shut against the wind. ------ Ayame's new hero outfit : ------

Sitting on the terrace of a cheap rent apartment building Alti Lokisen pouted. He didn't like to think he pouted, but the truth was he did, and when things didn't go his way he pouted often. The stages of his defeat had been almost bipolar, at first it'd been rage flipping tables tearing apart rooms and generally going on a murdering rampage. The second stage had been an almost joyous triumph of not being tied to the power of all jotunheim forever. He drank much and shared his bed with many an elf maid before he finally realized that his loss was truly a loss. That's when the pouting had set in, truly he was not back to his full strength yet and that realization had come crashing down on him with that bastard Black Adam had brought the JLA tower crashing down. Alti had wanted that honor, that pride, but he'd never have it.
He was lost in his thoughts and his pouting when he noticed a girl standing atop a roof, oh this should be good some little trollop giving herself a toss to prove some one she's brave enough to kill her self- but then he got an idea. A very wonderful idea, he didn't need to destroy his cousin's home to show him up, he needed to destroy his life, starting from the inside he needed to prove himself a hero and gain the attention of the JLA as a reformed creature. He stood and summoned to himself his dimension splitting sword and then in an instant he was bellow the girl, he caught her with one arm tearing the space and time between them so that they'd reappear on his crappy living room carpet. They did so tumbling until they thudded against the wall. His full weight ontop of the girl. He quickly got up and looked down at her- she was a beautiful angel to behold. "Are you alright fair maiden, that was a terrible fall you were about to make." A hero he could be indeed, and if all the fair maidens he rescued looked like that he wouldn't mind reaping a knights reward.

Ayame was laughing - a rare thing, since she didn't feel comfortable enough to do so - as she fell, whooping with glee. She never felt more alive than when she was free falling, gravity tugging on her, dragging her down, down down.
But then, it went wrong...someone...someone grabbed her. Someone was touching her. That was the only thought that went through her head before she was inside some room, pinned underneath someone.
It was horrible. The weight on top of her wasn't uncomfortable, but the fact it was another person...the way she could feel every muscle and bone against her skinny frame, the breath fanning across her face.
She remained frozen as her attacker stood up, looking up at him with wide dark eyes.
"Are you alright fair maiden, that was a terrible fall you were about to make."
Within a split second, Ayame was on her feet due to a flip, one leg sliding forward, the other back, angling her body to make a smaller target, two kunai retrieved from her belt pouch in less than a second clenched in her tiny hands.
"Such a fall would not harm me. Please point me to the closest exit and I shall not have any need to harm you." She stated in her usual polite yet cold voice, every muscle tensed, her jet black hair falling like a shawl over her shoulders.

With in a moment of him being off of her she was in the air flipping backward and landing in a crane position on the floor. He grinned, now this was a woman. A real fine woman. Alti's hands went to his hips watching her draw her weapons. "You are a feisty maiden indeed." He said his shoulder rising with a hearty chuckle from his chest.
Looking her over once more he noticed she dressed in a manner most odd for women of Midgard, but he knew nothing much of fashion here but he knew what looked out of place. That and she was bearing arms, he smiled at her and rested his hand on the pommel of his sword. That was when he noticed a communicator on her belt. "I am Alti, of Asgard, might I ask your name fair maiden before you leave?"

"You are a feisty maiden indeed."
"I do not know what this word, 'feisty', means. But I am sure I disagree with it. I bathe regularly." She stated, not moving from her position. She didn't like this. Not at all. She was in a small space with someone she didn't know. Not to mention...this man had touched her. Not inappropriately - then again, Vincent-sempai had had to explain what 'inappropriately' meant - but it didn't matter. Ayame hated to be touched. And even worse...he'd breathed on her.
"I am Alti, of Asgard, might I ask your name fair maiden before you leave?"
She eyed him with distrust, her muscles remaining taut and ready for action, the leather on her gloves making a creaking noise as her grip tightened on her kunai. She was all to aware that his own weapons was in grabbing range of himself.
"My name is Ayame Mikatoshi. Better known as Yokai of the Justice League of Avengers." Ayame didn't have a secret identity, per say. It was just no one knew of her outside of her hero life. She wasn't like Vincent-sempai or Octavius-sempai...
Come to think of it, this man said 'Asgard'. Wasn't that where Octavius-sempai came from too? Did they know each other?

The demi-goddling laughed heartily oh she was not very fluent in english he saw, it was very cute indeed. "Feisty, as in you have spirit. I like that." Oh she was looking a bit worried, but her face was so fresh and young that he knew he might truly fall for one such as her, she was a gem and a flower to behold. Most importantly she could be the key to undoing the JLA and that was most arousing thought indeed. Not that he was actually aroused.
Alti nodded knowingly. "The Justice League of Avengers, you don't say." So his assumption had been true. He'd have to play his cards close, she couldn't know just yet who he was it was best that some one else tell her of the eastern european city he'd nearly destroyed that way she'd come back to him. "I have a relative among your ranks, he is called Octavius Thorson." There it was surly she had to know him- but hopefully he had not known her. Oh how Alti would fume if Octavius had won this precious thing before himself.

"Feisty, as in you have spirit. I like that."
A tiny frown came upon Ayame's innocent face, just a slight wrinkle at the bridge of her nose. "Everyone has Spirit Alti-san. Other wise we would just be shells." Honestly. What was with people here and using strange phrases and words. Of course she had a spirit! Did that make everyone 'fiesty'?
However, at the mention of her sempai and pseudo-mentor, Ayame's face broke out into a child like expression of joy, innocent and pure. ""Octavius-sempai?! You're his brother!" She exclaimed, slipping her kunai back into their pouch and straightening up. If he was Octavius-sempai's brother, then he was OK right? Of course, if he wasn't, she was still perfectly capable of fighting without her kunai. "He was the person who personally sought me out for the Justice League of Avengers! He is most wonderful!"

Alti silently swore, so Octavius had gotten to this lovely maid before him- well facts were starting to lead him to believe that, he mustn't jump to the obvious conclusions. "I am not his brother actually, I am his cousin, his the son of his father's brother." Alti watched as she put her kunai away. She believed she was safe with him, that was good.
"Can I offer you something to drink, or eat. In payment for ruining your... jump?" Alti motioned to the kitchen, there was a pot of coffee on and he had a few items in the fridge, nothing particularly useful for entertaining guests but Atli had learned in this vast urban jungle of New York one could order up almost anything they wanted and it never took longer than twenty minutes.

Ayame processed the information before nodding slowly. Families were such confusing things. Cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents. All she'd ever known was her Otou-sama.
At his offer of a drink or food, she shook her head. "No thank you. I do not enjoy Western fair much. It is too artificial and strong." She explained, glancing around the shabby apartment. It was the type of place she would like to get, she decided, if she ever found the courage to leave the JLA. Small. Ayame didn't need much space - this much was obvious considering she'd taken a high ceilings storage closet as her bedroom in the new JLA base. A futon on the floor, a small chest with clothing and all her gear - weapons, harnesses, maps, blueprints - carefully place on the walls. She didn't need big rooms. It would just make empty space.
"Your living quarters are very nice, Alti-san." Of course, most females would say this in a sneering, mocking tone. But Ayame? Her tone was innocent and truthful.

Alti moved into the kitchen himself and poured himself a cup of coffee nodding as she spoke. "The food of midgard is not my favorite either. There are somethings best fresh, and others best un eaten." he said looking at her while stirring up some raw sugar into his drink and walking back into the joint sleeping/dining/living area, tossing the spoon into the sink as he passed.
"Thank you for enjoying my sense of decoration, Lady Ayame." He sipped his coffee and watched her look around. She was beautiful, the perfect woman. How could that dear little thing think so highly of Octavius. "So pray tell dear flower, how well do you know Octavius?"

At the question about Octavius-sempai and her friendship, Ayame smiled lightly. "Octavius-sempai was the first person to speak to me when I arrived in America. He is the one who pushed for my induction into The Justice League of Avengers, even though I was unknown in the hero world." She explained lightly, moving to stare out of the window, looking up at the edge of the building she had jumped off of. She had to remember which one it was, after all, so she could try it again at some point.
"He is very kind to me, and often explains things I do not understand. I.....care about him very much, I think." It was hard for Ayame to admit emotional attachments to people. She was so used to only caring about her Otou-sama. In fact, that was exactly what he had strived for, and she willingly gave it. But she imagined that if she was to have a brother or something of the like, she would feel about him the same way she did about Octavius.

Internally he was screaming, one more thing Octavius had taken away from him, one more thing he couldn't have because of Octavius and by proxy those damn pesky JLA members. Outwardly he never faltered ever the consummate actor, ever the shape shifter. "Could it be love?" He said leaning on the window frame looking at her reflection in the double paned glass. Meant to keep people from falling out but often times it made him feel closed in. Like he wasn't close enough to the outside like nature was lost to him, as if being in this urban jungle wasn't bad enough. Reaching in front of of Ayame he opened the door to the terrace letting the cold air in whipping around the two of them. "I've never been one to pry, but it seems you are very taken with my dear cousin Octavius, and you see in Asgard we always look out for our family."

At the out of the blue question, Ayame blinked a couple of times. Love? To be truthful, she thought perhaps, when she first came it was. But soon, she realized it wasn't. She respected him greatly, and she enjoyed his company...but no more than she did with Raphael-kun, or Vincent-san. She figured if, by reading all the books she could find on the subject of emotions, if she was to feel anything for anyone in a romantic sense, it would be Raphael-kun, but even that was a stretch.
"No. It is not anything close to such a thing." She stated softly but surely. "I do not believe I am capable of such an emotion. All I know about things such as love and friendship is from books and the like. I have been told I am...emotionally stunted. And strange. I often get called strange!" She turned to him with a slight grin, before leaping backwards as he lent forward to open the door. He'd been close to brushing against her. She still disliked contact of any form, no matter what progresses she had supposedly made.

Alti's shoulders sagged with relief but then his face dropped for a moment, she thought she could never love? "I would not rule love out fair flower, you see it grows in the most unpredictable of places." He wanted to touch her but she seemed so distant in that moment. If she'd been one of the elf maids of Alfheim he'd have grabbed her and lavished her upon the bed furs, but this girl was so delicate so fragile.
The demi god instead just took another sip of his coffee frustrated with the limitations she was presenting him. "I do not think you strange Lady Ayame, I think you are simply above the normal rabble of humanity, you've been given a gift a chance to shine above all else. I think it is beautiful."

Ayame laughed again. "I still highly doubt it is something I can feel. I have read that for love, there must be attraction. I do not know what it fully means, but I have never felt it." It was true. For a while, Ayame thought she may possibly not be attracted to males because she was what was termed as 'Lesbian'. But then she realized she wasn't attracted to females either. Of course, due to statistics, she assumed she was straight - the probability of her being so was higher than her being a lesbian.
At his insistence that she wasn't strange to him, she laughed again, just a little. "If you do not find me strange, but instead 'beautiful'...perhaps you are rather strange yourself Alti-san." She shrugged. "I do not think I would mind being part of the...'rabble of humanity'." She shrugged, quoting his words awkwardly.
